Dr. Milos Popovic and Dr. Alex Mihailidis helped bring RehabWeek 2019 to Toronto to connect rehabilitation researchers and showcase the city’s leadership in rehabilitation research and technology. The event gave international colleagues an opportunity to see Toronto Rehab’s specialized research facilities firsthand and learn about collaborations spanning academia and industry.
The Story
Dr. Milos Popovic and Dr. Alex Mihailidis saw RehabWeek 2019 as an opportunity to bring researchers together while showcasing Toronto’s strength in rehabilitation research. A key part of their plan was to take delegates beyond the conference itself and into Toronto Rehab and University of Toronto facilities, where they could see specialized research environments and simulators including the HomeLab, WinterLab, StreetLab and DriverLab.
For Popovic and Mihailidis, the event was also a chance to show the international rehabilitation community the breadth of research happening in Toronto and the partnerships supporting it. They wanted delegates to see not only the work underway at Toronto Rehab, but also the strong academic departments and collaborations with partners across academia and industry that contribute to Toronto’s leadership in the field.
