Corinne Eisenbraun helped bring the 19th International Congress of Dietetics to Toronto to showcase the strength of Canada’s dietetics community and the quality of its research. Working with the Leaders Circle and Tourism Toronto, she also saw the congress as an opportunity to build connections with international colleagues and introduce delegates to Toronto’s food, culture and research community.

The Story

Corinne Eisenbraun saw bringing the International Congress of Dietetics to Toronto as an opportunity to showcase both the quality of Canadian research and the strength of the country’s dietetics community. Just as importantly, she wanted the congress to help build bridges with colleagues from around the world and give delegates the opportunity to connect with Toronto’s medical and research centres of excellence.

Toronto’s food and culture made the city particularly relevant for an international gathering of dietitians. Eisenbraun expected the city’s neighbourhoods and cultural offerings to be a major draw for delegates interested in exploring the relationship between food and culture. Reflecting on the bidding process, she said she would recommend working with the Leaders Circle and Tourism Toronto to anyone beginning the process of bidding for an international congress.
